When an adhesive, like Biothin, says it's PMMA-free and hydroquinone-free, it's actually telling you this:
🔬 What is PMMA (Polymethyl methacrylate)?
🧪 It's a polymer (transparent plastic) that's used in all sorts of things - from contact lenses, to gel nails, to... adhesives.
👉 In lash glue, PMMA is added for:
- to make the adhesive stronger
- you would improve retention
- you would give a more "elastic" texture when it dries
😬 Problem:
- It is a irritating quite well known for sensitive skin
- It can cause allergies, redness, itching, or swelling in the eyes
- it accumulate in the body and is difficult to degrade
